ISB Authorized Kunkle Repair Assembler and New Valve supplier

We are excited that we have been selected as an authorized service center and new valve supplier for Kunkle Valve. We will stock new valves and parts at our Chicopee, MA location. We plan on supplying/shipping new safety valves throughout the country. Typically our Kunkle and safety valve repair area includes but is not limited to the states of  MA, NY, RI,CT, VT,NH,ME,PA, We will continue our VR repairs to all manufacturers’ safety and relief valves as well as the Kunkle line. We suggest that your boiler be taken down at the earliest convenience for cleaning and inspection. We can provide the following services for Water tube/Fire tube units:

IN LINE PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE TESTING:

A National Board of Boiler & Pressure vessel inspectors approved method of testing pressure relief valves under the “VR” Certificate of Authorization.

The testing system commonly referred to as a “Lift Assist Testing Device” applies an auxiliary lifting load to the spring of your new, existing , or repaired valve while under system pressure to establish or verify the set point. The system used by ISB is the AVK, the industry leader of this specialized equipment.

The testing can be accomplished as you run your operation, and will not hamper your plant function.Testing prior to a shutdown identifies valve services needs, reduces labor costs typical for removal and re-installations.

We suggest this test in years that the safety valves are not removed and serviced in a “VR” shop.

All test results are downloaded and the customer receives a report. Technicians can make set point adjustments if needed or found out of tolerance. This report is kept on file for your company, insurance and inspection agencies.

This is a “Due Dilligence ” check on your safety valves for the “in between years”. There is nothing superior than the actual disassembly/ inspection of the safety valves, but the on site testing is the next best thing to do.

We also have safety valve program that maintains spreadsheet records of your plant systems,equipment  ID#s, service dates, VR dates, boiler #, tank# ,valve manufacturer,type, model, set pressures, capacity , etc.

ISB Safety Valve Repair facility-Notice

As you are aware safety valves are critical to the safety of all. Thus the name “Safety Valve”.

ISB is a VR certified safety valve repair facility with the capabilities to perform shop and field VR repairs. We hold the National board  sec V and UV stamps. We are certified for air, liquid, and steam service valves. We highly suggest that if you have  steam boiler safeties out for repair, that  you periodically witness the testing at the repair facility of your choice. Some may be taking shortcuts and may not be testing the safety valves as required. They may not even have the equipment to test. Please be aware of this possibility. A good question as to “how are you testing the valves?”,could be asked. Take nothing for granted.This makes good sense as you are  ultimately responsible for the safety of the employees along with the integrity of your company.

New Valve Replacement and Testing

At ISB we have determined that on some occasions new valves leak upon plant start up. As a precautionary measure we give all new valve/s a hydrostatic shell and seat pressure test.  This helps to avoid additional labor and costs after installation.
